The Sept. 25, 2026, groundbreaking for the Stillwater at Lake Oconee amenity center and model home marked the next phase of development for the Forestar community in Putnam County.
Fortis Siteworks served as the sitework and wet-utility contractor, preparing the property for home construction and installing the infrastructure needed to support the new community.
The project reflects the range of work Fortis can deliver across a large residential development. The scope included clearing, mass grading, storm drainage, sanitary sewer, force main, water distribution and lift-station construction.
Across the initial development and dam rehabilitation scope, Fortis handled more than 500,000 cubic yards of earthwork. Crews installed approximately 9,500 linear feet of storm drainage, nearly 8,500 linear feet of gravity sewer, more than 3,400 linear feet of force main and more than 5,400 linear feet of water infrastructure.
The underground work also included jack-and-bore and open-cut utility crossings, along with the wet well, valve vault, piping, concrete and electrical coordination required to construct the community’s lift station.
Fortis worked with Forestar, D.R. Horton and the broader project team to prepare Stillwater for home construction and the continued buildout of the community.
“Fortis Siteworks consistently delivers quality sitework and infrastructure on schedule, helping us maintain development timelines and meet commitments to our builder partners,” Forestar said.
