Richland Connector Utility Project Reaches 8-Mile Milestone

September 14, 2026

Fortis Siteworks is building the Richland Connector wet utility project in Greene County, delivering critical wastewater infrastructure in the Reynolds Lake Oconee area.

Fortis is installing a new force main system that will connect future development areas to the regional wastewater network. The scope includes underground utility installation, valve infrastructure and future pump station construction.

To date, Fortis crews have installed more than 42,000 linear feet of force main, representing nearly eight miles of underground wastewater infrastructure completed in approximately two months. The work includes force main ranging from 6-inch to 12-inch diameter across three primary lines, multiple jack-and-bore and directional drilling crossings, and an aerial bridge utility crossing completed in less than a week. Supporting infrastructure includes air release valves, plug valves, tracer stations and related fittings installed throughout the system.

Among the project's most notable components are three planned pump stations that will move wastewater through the system and support hundreds of future homes, recreational amenities and additional development throughout the Reynolds area. Pump station construction requires coordination between grading, utility installation, wet well construction, valve vaults, electrical systems and structural concrete work.
